Welcome to X-Men: Unhinged Evolution!
We are an alternate universe X-Men: Evolution roleplaying game that accepts canon/original characters and fun, creative writers. The time is set before season 1.
Mutants are not yet known to the public, but when superpowers are in the hands of hormonal teenagers who knows how long that will last. Professor Xavier is doing his best to delay the process by homing these young mutants and teaching them to control their powers. Magneto and Mystique are doing something similar.
So far, the only mutants living at the Xavier Institute are Ororo and Logan, whereas the Brotherhood of Bayville Boarding House is virtually unoccupied.
Who will be next? Who will be the X-Men? Who will be the Brotherhood?

Queens, New York, Astoria Blvd. Station
Saturday, January 21st, 2:07pm
Intermittent clouds of e-cigarettes and the white-noise of the laughter and shouting of passengers crept out of the trains and into the subway platform. The scents and the sounds mingled there and spread through the bustling but dank underground where Sean sat between two benches that were absent of butts. His neck was crooked with his hair hanging over, brushing against the wood of his acoustic guitar. His chords rang out muffled as the notes hit the wall of ambient noise, choking out the richness of each strum.
Saturdays were not the best day for busking. It was too loud, there were too many people, and there were rival buskers all over the fucking place on every platform in every fucking station. Voices lost to homelessness or indifferent families belted out their lament and beauty in ways that Sean just literally could not. At the most, he hummed out the melodies to the songs he played but due to the volume of the place, he might as well have not bothered. He didn't care about the competition. He didn't have a goddamn thing to prove and he wasn't some sort of undiscovered star in the making.
"You know you'll get more tips if you sing somethin'..."
A barely-concerned voice chirped up from the other side of the left bench he was wedged in between. A man in his thirties- possibly forties, sitting against the brick of the station with his dog under one arm and a worn and scored paper coffee cup tucked into his left hand. Sean looked up from his shy-guy, droopy head thing he had going on and stiffened a brow. He was not amused. "I AM A LEADER BUT- YA' WILL NOT FOLLOW ME! I AIN'T NO PREACHER F'R I'M FULL'A BLASPHEMY- SEE YOU IN HELL BOOOOYS!"
The sound was grating, off-key, and the wrong kind of loud for punk. He locked eyes with the man the entirety of the line, looking him dead in his soul as if to say, 'That's fucking why, ya fuck'. The man abruptly got up and left and a woman who had freshly dropped a bill into his guitar case just beforehand had immediately spun on a heel and marched back without skipping a beat and pulled her dollar back out.
And he watched her do it."Thass messed up."
He took in a deep breath and an even deeper eyeroll and set his instrument aside, perched up against the painted black steel of the side of the bench and breathed out a sigh. He dug into the pocket of his filthy, maroon hoodie and fished out his 'unlimited go phone', which was a smart phone by a company that probably didn't even exist and only worked 45 percent of the time anyway. No texts from mum having gotten back from taking Theresa to the park. He still had time to kill."I have school and a baby an' oy'm takin' requests!"

---------------Full Name: Sean Eion Cassidy
Nickname(s): Cass, Whitey, Lucky Charms, for lack of imagination
DOB: April 8th
Evo Canon, Comics Canon or Original: Comic Canon
Place of residence: Queens, New York
Occupation: Busker/Teen Dad
Year in school: Junior/Failed Senior
Skin: Pasty and inundated with freckles
Build: Tall and lanky, squared shoulders, and spindly limbs. He would look creepy is he wasn't a ginger.
Dress: Typically seen wearing tacky, unironic metal band tees of lesser-known greats from the late 1980s-early 1990s. Trash skinny jeans and hats. Recently he's been experimenting with bolo ties and cowboy hats and it got him kicked out of his band.
Other: Lip shape is of a pouty kid in trouble most of the time, unruly orange hair when it's not clipped hella short.
Play-By: Caleb Landry Jones
Likes: Poison, Ratt, Cannibal Corpse, Otep, GUNS'N'ROSES, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, attractive people who look dirty but smell super nice, garbage-grade grain alcohol.
Dislikes: Ireland, people passing off obviousness as 'cleverness', the color green, Garth Brooks, and Slayer.
Goals: Obtain full custody of Theresa, scream without murdering everything, find a band that will let him experiment/explore the sounds of metal and country simultaneously. If music doesn't work, he'll go into Criminal Justice or something.
Fears: Losing his daughter, large groups of men, and that Dolly Parton will die during his lifetime.
Strengths: Uncanny ear for harmony, intricate melodies, emotional and spiritual resiliency, an iron-clad compass of right and wrong, and damn good at throwing together leftovers that shouldn't belong together and make them taste incredible.
Weaknesses: The World's Worst Singer In The World, a predisposition of addiction, and has a stereotypical Irish temper that when heated, doesn't always consider things rationally. Cheesecake.
Best subject: Music Theory, History, Using the Bathroom During His Boring Classes
Worst subject: Maths, English, Anything Where He Has to Create/Make Things
Extracurriculars: Making music and being a better father
General Personality: Hero Complex: While not adhering to the strict paladinian code of wanting to save everyone and do what is morally superior every second of his life, Sean's deep-rooted motivation and purpose to be a decent man even though he is an impossible hot mess express is paramount to his identity. Having been ingrained into him at such a young age due to growing up in a police family, Sean will put himself out there for the wellbeing of others even if it is not smart to do so. He's had his ass kicked more times than he can count. He tends to get in over his head more often than not.
That Metal Guy: Although the core of Sean's character is his intention to be better and do the right thing, he's also that guy you see at every rock show that starts the moshpit and accidentally kicks someone's girlfriend in the face and has to run from the boyfriend holding a broken bottle out of the venue; screaming. His tastes, both aesthetically and circumstantially are incredibly low-brow.
Rad Dad: While it's 100 percent possible that Sean will not retain full custody of his beloved daughter until he gets his shit together, he orchestrates his entire life around the comfort and life-experience of her. From taking her along with him to bang shit together while he busks acoustically in the subway or lets her choose the music selection off his vinyl collection via sloppy, full-arm pointing for changing, feeding, playtime, and storytime, he wants to incorporate her so much into all the things he loves because he loves her most of all.
Mutant Power(s): Enhanced vocal chords
Sean's mutant ability allows him to increase, proliferate, edit, manipulate, and accentuate the naturally-occurring vibrations of his vocal chords to incredible levels of effect. By doing so, he is capable of:
Biggest Drawback(s): Sean's entire mutant ability relies solely on the use of his vocal chords, throat, and mouth. If any of these areas are compromised, covered, or injured, he is entirely unable to access the gifts of his mutant genes. Even an ear or nasal infection severely hampers his abilities and drastically lessens his limits and potential.
- Sonic Scream: By focusing on the force and pitch (essentially cranking the 'Volume' dial up through mental focus) of his voice, Sean can produce a scream that reaches far beyond the usual limit of safe decibel levels. Far exceeding 180 decibels, or the level of which a rocket explosion produces its sound, Sean's primary power is that he is able to direct the affect of his actions by where he is aiming his mouth, essentially. He is able to direct his screams over a range of 100 feet to varied results. He has been shown to disturb the equilibrium of all persons located within the aforementioned distance into different displays of pain, acute nausea, permanent hearing damage and at full concentration, permanent hearing-loss. As far as objects go, the more fragile the object, the easier it is for Sean to match with each objects individual frequency and cause it to shatter.
*Although he has relatively sound control over his mouth, he isn't able to focus peripherally on his surroundings, which makes him vulnerable to surprise attacks, blindsides, and his vocal stamina. While this is stellar for his history of screaming in a metal band, it still only allows him to unleash a continuous scream for as long as he can hold his very human stamina.
- Sonic Flight: By augmenting and manipulating the density of his pitch (or the 'Tone' dial in his brain), Sean can use the sonic energy he generates into self-propelled flight. By aiming the trajectory of his scream downward, he can maintain a level of airborne state to varying degrees. By round-breathing, he can keep up a height of 150 feet and has been able to fly a distance of 5 miles of continuous flight before he fatigues. Unfortunately, he lacks the scientific knowledge and the grace to keep a steady path so he's usually all over the place when he's in the air. It's kind of embarrassing.
- Sonic Blasts: The use of strong, abrupt 'arcs' of sonic waves by focusing the speed (mentally, the 'Overdrive' dial), Sean can create short, concussive bursts of energy that act as a concentrated wall of unstable air molecules that have the power to knock back objects of up to 500lbs, shred materials up to the density of leather, and dent matter as heavy and thick as steel.
Non-mutant power(s): Can play a left-handed guitar upside down, has an impressive mental catalog of records released between 1994 and 1996, and is a really good listener.
Hometown: Dublin, Ireland
Birthplace: Cork, Ireland
Family: Theresa Maeve Rourke-Cassidy (Daughter, 2 years old), Thomas 'Red Tom' Cassidy (Father, deceased), Kathleen Sheonagh Cassidy (Mother), Maeve Rourke (ex-girlfriend/mother to his child)
Criminal Record: [Yes; truancy.]
History: Sean Cassidy was born into a police family in the town of Cork, Ireland. Having been raised under strict, though typical parenting, Sean didn't have any sort of life that was considered extraordinary from any of the other kids in town. His mother was a doting stay-at-home mother while his father was an gifted member of Ireland's police force. After a job opportunity with Dublin's Interpol branch came up, the family moved up from what was a quiet, quaint village into the bustling and often-dangerous metropolitan world that Dublin was infamous for.
As his father Thomas (nicknamed 'Red Tom' by his fellow agents) climbed the ranks and tackled increasingly violent crimes throughout the country and into the UK, Sean began to hang with the wrong crowds as he approached his teen years. Considered a bit of a 'chav', derogatorily, or that of a common juvenile delinquent, he began to discover his identity as a musician. Frequently cutting school to hang out by the docks with a few of his more 'motivated' friends, Sean picked up his first guitar and unloaded what savings he had at such a young age at local record stores, concentrating his eye and ear on metal music.
In the world around him, though, tensions continued to mount with the ongoing conflict between the IRA and local government authorities. In the times at home where his mother would fret and his father would be absent, Sean spent his nights going to seedy gigs and slumming it up with his skeezy circle of friends. It was there that he met fellow rock-enthusiast and black tar heroin user Maeve. The two famously hit it off for the first two months before finally consummating their very mature and serious 15 year old relationship. Two weeks later, the pair called it quits due to being molecularly incompatible. The result from their brief and fiery romance brought into this world a baby girl, Theresa, 9 months later. Also due to being molecularly incompatible with sobriety and motherhood, custody of Theresa was split between Sean and his mother. It was within those first few months that Sean grew up tremendously and developed an overwhelming sense of responsibility and needing to step up as a human being.
Shortly after the baby's first birthday, tragedy struck the family. A car bomb had prematurely detonated in the field where Sean's father was assigned, killing him in the line of duty. The effect of the incident further shook Sean out of his delinquent sensibility and caused only greater anxiety over the wellbeing of his daughter. The family decided it was time to get out of dodge. Utilizing a prior teaching degree, Sean's mother Kathleen applied for a teaching position in New York City where she had done an internship straight out of grad school and before they knew it, they traded one big city for another, in desperate hope of reclaiming their lives.
The first thing Sean did when he arrived in Queens, New York was join a band. After all that he had been through and all of the stress of being a new dad, he needed that outlet. He needed to put a voice to the turmoil that he felt within him. He only took to the stage once with his dirge metal band Firecrotch and it was the first and only time he took to the mic. Their lead vocalist was a no show to their paid gig and it was decided that Sean, on top of playing bass, would be taking lead during their five-song set. As the drums built up and the riffs crashed, Sean let out a droning scream so piercing that every pint-glass in the joint caved and shattered. Though there were many injuries, the entirety of the blame was put on the equipment and the culpability of the venue. They were asked never to perform again and Sean had his ass handed to him outside the club by a group of the club's unsavory 'affiliates'.
As his first Winter in New York approached, Sean juggled the tasks of finishing his compulsory education, raising his little girl, and coming to terms with the fact that it may not have been the venue's faulty equipment at all...
